I'm trying to use the Java Viewer and it's not working.

To use the Java Viewer, you'll need to enter the IP address of your VNC Server into your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox), and specify the correct port. By default, the VNC Java Viewer is served on TCP port 5800, so you should enter:

::5800

If you're doing this and it's not working, then there are generally two common problems:

1) You don't have Java installed. If the webpage is loading you'll see "VNC Viewer for Java" in the title of the browser window. If the Java application doesn't load and the page is blank, then it's likely that you'll need to download the latest release of Java from the sun website:

http://www.sun.com

Once you've download and installed the Java update, please be sure to restart your browser, and try again.

2) Your network isn't configured correctly. This is especially likely if you're connecting over the internet, and haven't configured your network to allow/forward TCP port 5800. Please see the related article on connecting over the internet.
