When I connect to x0vncserver, the screen loads but then doesn't refresh anymore?

This is because the built in desktop compositing feature of certain Linux distributions (notably, Ubuntu 9.04) means that x0vncserver isn't detecting the updates that are taking place.

To rectify this, set "Visual Effects" in "System > Preferences > Appearance" to 'None'.
